How Can You Benefit From The Quit Smoking Support Part 1

August 14th, 2007 · No Comments

Quit smoking support helps smokers to stop smoking. It involves a group of smokers who are planning to stop smoking. When you participate in the support group, you show that you are serious about quitting smoking.

Here are some tips on how to benefit from the quit smoking support group.

Be patient. You tend to believe that you can overcome cigarettes in a short period, but you know that it is not possible. Identifying yourself as an ex-smoker doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time to quit smoking completely. If you’ve been a smoker for many years, you need some time to break the habit. Be aware that lapses may happen. So be patient.

Live one day at a time. Stop worrying about the future. What matter the most is now. At you start your day, tell yourself that you will not touch a cigarette for today. You may find it difficult initially but once you do it every day, it will become a routine. You may be overwhelmed when you think of not smoking for the rest of your life. Therefore, set a more realistic goal, starting today.

Develop a positive attitude. Don’t be hard on yourself. If you have failed in quitting smoking previously, consider it as a learning experience. Thinking it as a failure will tell your mind that you can’t do it again. Instead, perceive it as a motivation to quit smoking. Learn what you have not done right and how you can do it better. Tell yourself that you can overcome this bad habit. Your experiences give you an advantage. Now, you know what to avoid and what steps to take.
